Job Title: Public Education Information Management Systems (PEIMS) Director

Job Goal: To ensure the accurate collection and legal compliance of all student and financial data reported to the Texas Education Agency through the Public Education Information Management System.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:
  • High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Broad knowledge of student accounting system software
  • Knowledge of software used to develop spreadsheets, databases, and word processing
  • Ability to detect data problems and assist school personnel in correcting data inaccuracies
  • Ability to meet the established deadlines that ensure compliance in reporting
  • Strong communication, organization, and time management skills
Experience:
  • In technical support position
  • In student accounting systems
  • In public education environment

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the collection, integration, and formatting of all data required for PEIMS submission according to PEIMS Data Standards.
  • Compile pertinent data for preparing required state and local reports.
  • Communicate with administrative and clerical personnel to determine processing needs, clarify requests, develop solutions, and provide technical assistance within level of responsibility.
  • Assist end-users of student data software in resolving problems and utilize software.
  • Develop and print reports using database information including attendance reports, class rosters, end-of-semester reports, PEIMS reports, and required auditable reports at both campus and district levels.
  • Evaluate and recommend student systems technology.
  • Prepare correspondence, memorandums, forms, requisitions, and reports for the Student Services/PEIMS office.
  • Maintain physical and computerized departmental files.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.
  • Develop professional skills appropriate to job assignment through attendance and participation at local, regional, state, and national conferences, attendance and participation in workshops, reading and professional materials.
  • Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical and responsible.
  • Articulate the district's mission and goals to the community and solicit its support in realizing the school's mission.

The office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., however, the PEIMS Director from time to time may work an extended schedule, including weekends and evenings according to demands of the role and tasks.
