History
Conceived in the hearts of a few creative forward-thinkers, Eden Park Academy became a reality when it was granted a 10 year charter, opening its doors in August of 1998. From the get-go, our school has thrived, thanks in large part to its pioneering staff and committed parent involvement. The location of the school in a strip mall at the intersection of 1st and Stassney was not the ideal setting for a school, with no playground, surrounded by blacktop and other business suites, one big room partitioned off into classrooms, the cafeteria and gym located in the small back stock room; however, for nine years we did the best we could with what we had. When our present location became available, we jumped at the opportunity to move, giving us more room to grow.
Since Spring of 2004, EPA has called the present campus location "home". Until Fall 2008, we were on a yearly lease; everything changed in October of that year when the owner offered to sell the property to us for $3.25 million dollars. We accepted, and, helped by generous financing arrangements and a significant price-reduction, EPA became ours.
Our plan was to quickly expand classrooms into the front building, but city inspection revealed fire code standards dating back to the 1960's--this mandated extensive renovation. Out of Eden Park's parent talent base, we secured a contractor and welder for bringing the building up to code and for needed remodeling. Another parent helped us with building materials at a reduced rate. Ahead of schedule, at the beginning of the Fall 2011 school year, we opened three new middle school classrooms--all set for continuing the close-knit community atmosphere for our kids that makes Eden Park Academy so special, so worth our time, effort, and commitment.
